Main equipment composition

• Mixing equipment: usually an internal mixer or an open mixer is used. The internal mixer can mix raw materials such as butyl rubber in a closed environment, and the various compounding agents are evenly dispersed in the rubber through the stirring action of the rotor, thereby improving the mixing effect and production efficiency; the open mixer uses two relatively rotating rollers to roll and mix the rubber, which is convenient for manual operation and observation of the mixing situation.

• Extrusion equipment: generally single-screw or twin-screw extruders are the main ones. The single-screw extruder has a simple structure and is easy to operate. It is suitable for situations where the output requirements are not particularly high; the twin-screw extruder has better material conveying capacity and mixing effect, which can make the rubber more uniform during the extrusion process and can be used to produce high-quality butyl tape.

• Coating equipment: Common ones are scraper coaters and transfer coaters. The scraper coater uses a scraper to evenly coat the rubber on the substrate, and the coating thickness can be controlled by adjusting the distance between the scraper and the substrate; the transfer coater first coats the rubber on the transfer roller, and then transfers the rubber to the substrate by the transfer roller, which can achieve more accurate coating amount control.

• Slitting equipment: The slitting machine is used to slit the produced butyl tape rolls according to different width and length requirements. There are disc slitting machines and blade slitting machines. The disc slitting machine has a fast slitting speed and is suitable for slitting wide tapes; the blade slitting machine has high slitting accuracy and can be used for slitting narrow tapes.

Working principle of the equipment

• Mixing principle: The mixing equipment breaks the butyl rubber molecular chain through mechanical force, and at the same time, the vulcanizer, accelerator, filler and other compounding agents are evenly mixed into the rubber to form a mixed rubber with certain properties.

• Extrusion principle: The extrusion equipment uses the rotation of the screw to push the mixed rubber forward. During the forward process, the rubber is heated and sheared, gradually plasticized and extruded from the head to form a rubber strip with a certain shape and size.

• Coating principle: The coating equipment evenly coats the extruded rubber strip on the substrate, and by adjusting the coating speed, rubber flow rate and coating thickness and other parameters, the rubber and the substrate are tightly combined to form a butyl tape.

• Slitting principle: The slitting equipment cuts the large roll of butyl tape with a blade or a disc cutter, and cuts the tape into small rolls of different specifications according to the set size parameters.
